Accessibility statement

How PsychiatryRx works to be usable by everyone, and how to report a barrier.

Our commitment

PsychiatryRx is committed to making its content usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control, and keyboard-only navigation. We treat accessibility as part of good medical communication, not as an add-on.

Standard we aim for

We design and build PsychiatryRx to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These are the same guidelines U.S. courts and the Department of Justice reference when evaluating web accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508.

What we do

To support that standard, the site includes:

  • A "Skip to main content" link so keyboard users can bypass the header.
  • Visible keyboard focus outlines on every interactive element.
  • Semantic HTML headings, landmarks, and lists so screen readers can navigate by structure.
  • Text alternatives for meaningful images.
  • Color and text contrast that meet or exceed WCAG AA ratios for body text and interface elements.
  • Form fields and search inputs with associated labels.
  • Resizable text that reflows up to 200% without loss of content.
  • Reduced-motion support that honors your operating system's "reduce motion" preference.
  • A primary navigation menu that is fully keyboard operable on mobile, with proper ARIA state.
  • A site search whose result counts are announced through a polite live region.

Known limitations

PsychiatryRx is a static reference site, and the medication content is updated continually. If a recently published page falls short of the standard above, we want to know. We treat accessibility defects as content defects and fix them as we would a medical inaccuracy.

How to report a barrier

If something on PsychiatryRx is hard or impossible to use with your assistive technology, please tell us. Email support@psychiatryrx.org and include:

  • The page URL.
  • A short description of the problem.
  • The assistive technology and browser you are using, if you know.

We aim to respond within 5 business days and to fix accessibility defects as quickly as we can.

Third-party content

A small number of links on the site point to outside sources, such as FDA labels, MedlinePlus, and the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. We do not control the accessibility of those external sites, but we choose them because they are widely used and generally well maintained.
