Terms of Use

The terms that govern your use of PsychiatryRx.

About these terms

These Terms of Use govern your use of PsychiatryRx, the website at psychiatryrx.org. The site is published by shrinkMD Publishing, LLC. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last updated, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Who may use the site

PsychiatryRx is intended for adults. The site is general health education written for a general adult audience, and it is not directed to children. If you are under 18, please use the site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. By using the site, you confirm that you are able to agree to these terms, or that a parent or guardian who can agree has done so on your behalf.

No medical advice, and no clinician-patient relationship

This is the most important part of these terms. PsychiatryRx is a general education publication about psychiatric medications. It does not provide medical advice.

Using this site, reading its content, or contacting us does not create a doctor-patient or clinician-patient relationship between you and Shariq Refai, MD, MBA, shrinkMD, shrinkMD Publishing, LLC, or anyone else associated with the site. When a page says it was medically reviewed, that means a psychiatrist checked it for general educational accuracy. It is not a review of your situation, and it is not advice to you.

Nothing on this site is a substitute for evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment by a qualified clinician who knows your history. Never start, stop, or change a medication based on what you read here. Always talk to your own prescriber. Our Medical disclaimer covers this in more detail.

PsychiatryRx is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 in the U.S. to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room.

How you may use the site

You are welcome to read the site, link to it, and print or save pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not republish, redistribute, scrape, mirror, or use the site's content for commercial purposes without written permission. You agree not to use the site in any way that is unlawful, or that could damage, disable, overburden, or interfere with it. You agree not to use automated tools, including bots, crawlers, and scrapers, to access the site, except for well-behaved search engine crawlers that respect the site's robots.txt file.

You agree not to use PsychiatryRx content to train, fine-tune, or evaluate generative artificial intelligence systems, large language models, or any similar systems, except under a separately signed written agreement with shrinkMD Publishing, LLC. The full rules for content reuse and AI training are set out in our Copyright and content usage page.

Reader contributions

PsychiatryRx is currently a read-only publication and does not host comments, forums, or user submissions. If interactive features are added in the future, your use of them will be governed by our Community and contributions page, which is published in advance so the rules exist before any such feature does.

Intellectual property

The content of PsychiatryRx, including its text, design, layout, name, and logo, is owned by shrinkMD Publishing, LLC, or used with permission, and is protected by intellectual property law. The personal-use permission above does not transfer any ownership rights. See Copyright and content usage for the full terms.

Links to other sites

PsychiatryRx links to other websites, including government health resources, the related publications in its network, and, where care options are discussed, telepsychiatry providers. We provide these links for your convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices. A link is not an endorsement.

Disclaimer of warranties

PsychiatryRx works to keep its content accurate and current, and draws on recognized sources. Even so, the site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, about the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or availability of the site or its content.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, shrinkMD Publishing, LLC, and the people associated with the site will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, PsychiatryRx or anything on it. Because the site is general education and not medical advice, any decision you make about your health remains a matter for you and your clinician.

Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless shrinkMD Publishing, LLC, and the people associated with the site from any claims, losses, or expenses, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from your misuse of the site or your violation of these terms. This does not limit any rights you have that cannot be waived under applicable law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, where the publisher is based, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute relating to these terms or to your use of the site will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you agree to that venue, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

If part of these terms cannot be enforced

If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that part will be limited or removed to the smallest extent necessary, and the rest of the terms will stay in full effect.
