Ownership
The content of PsychiatryRx, including the medication guides, comparisons, drug-class overviews, glossary, illustrations, layout, design, name, and logo, is owned by shrinkMD Publishing, LLC, or used with permission. It is protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
What you can do without asking
You are welcome to:
- Read the site.
- Link to any page from your own site, blog, or social account.
- Print or save a page for your own personal, non-commercial use, including to bring to an appointment with your prescriber.
- Quote a short passage in commentary, criticism, news reporting, teaching, or scholarship, with attribution to PsychiatryRx and a link back to the original page.
These uses are intended to track the fair-use principles in U.S. copyright law. They are not a transfer of ownership.
What requires written permission
The following uses are not permitted without prior written permission from shrinkMD Publishing, LLC:
- Republishing or redistributing PsychiatryRx content, in whole or in substantial part, on another website, in a newsletter, app, book, or other publication.
- Commercial use of any kind, including marketing materials, patient handouts distributed by a clinical practice or pharmacy, course materials sold to the public, or content bundled into a paid product.
- Translating PsychiatryRx content into another language for public distribution.
- Bulk reproduction, even for free, beyond ordinary personal use.
To request permission, write to [email protected]. Educational use by clinicians and trainees is generally welcomed, and we try to say yes where we can.
Search engines, AI answer engines, and AI training
Search engines, AI answer engines, and AI developers are welcome to crawl PsychiatryRx. That includes indexing our pages, quoting them to answer someone's question, and using them to train, fine-tune, or evaluate AI models, commercial or non-commercial. We want accurate, psychiatrist-reviewed medication information to be what these systems learn from and point people to.
We ask three things in return:
- Attribute and link. When an answer quotes or summarizes a page, credit PsychiatryRx and link to the source page.
- Don't strip context. Keep the safety context that travels with the content, including that it's general education and not medical advice, and that anyone in crisis in the US can call or text 988.
- Crawl politely. Follow our robots.txt and don't overload the site.
To make this easy, we publish a curated index at /llms.txt, a full-text export at /llms-full.txt, and our AI usage terms at /ai.txt.
What still needs written permission is republishing our pages for people to read somewhere else: mirroring the site, or copying pages in whole or in substantial part onto another website, app, or product. That's covered in the section above.
Data and charts
The original data on PsychiatryRx, meaning the pages under /data/, their CSV downloads, and the charts at /data/charts/, is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). You can copy, share, chart, and adapt it for any purpose, including commercially, as long as you credit PsychiatryRx and link to the page the data came from. A credit such as "Source: PsychiatryRx analysis of CMS NADAC data" with a link is enough.
This license covers only the data pages, downloads, and charts. The rest of the site, including the medication guides and articles, stays under the terms above. The underlying federal data from CMS and the FDA is public, and you're free to use it directly from those agencies.
Reporting infringement
If you believe content on PsychiatryRx infringes a copyright you hold, send a notice to [email protected] that includes:
- A description of the work you believe is infringed.
- The URL on PsychiatryRx where the alleged infringement appears.
- Your contact information.
- A statement, made in good faith, that the use is not authorized.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
If you believe content of yours was removed from PsychiatryRx in error, you may send a counter-notice to the same address.
Trademarks
"PsychiatryRx," the PsychiatryRx wordmark, "shrinkMD," "shrinkMD Publishing," and related logos are trademarks of shrinkMD Publishing, LLC. Medication brand names mentioned on the site, such as Zoloft, Wellbutrin, or Lexapro, are trademarks of their respective owners, and are used here only to identify the medication being discussed.
