Psychiatric generic drug prices: what pharmacies pay
What U.S. retail pharmacies pay to buy 86 generics used in psychiatry, from the federal NADAC survey. Updated monthly.
What this number is, and isn't
NADAC, the National Average Drug Acquisition Cost, is what retail community pharmacies pay wholesalers and manufacturers to buy a drug. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services builds it from a national monthly survey of pharmacy invoices and publishes it every week. Many state Medicaid programs use it as a benchmark when they pay pharmacies.
It isn't the price you pay at the counter. Your cost depends on your insurance, your pharmacy's markup and dispensing fee, and discount programs. It's still the most reliable public signal of what a generic actually costs to buy, and how that's moving.

Method
Generic (classification G) oral tablet and capsule products only. Representative product = the strength and form with the most NDCs in the latest weekly file. Per-unit price is the median NADAC across that product's NDCs. 30-unit cost = per-unit price x 30. Change = representative product price now vs. the same product 12 months earlier.
Brand-only medications, injectables, infusions, and over-the-counter products aren't included. Medications without an oral generic listed in NADAC don't appear.
Update schedule. CMS publishes NADAC weekly. This page refreshes automatically on the first week of each month from the newest weekly file. If the newest file is more than five weeks old, or the numbers fail validation checks, the page keeps the last good data instead of publishing questionable numbers.
